Origin of the anconeus?

Lateral epicondyle of humerus

The anconeus originates from the lateral epicondyle of the humerus. This location places the muscle in the posterior extensor region of the elbow, aligning with its role in assisting elbow extension and stabilizing the joint. From there, the fibers run to the proximal ulna and olecranon to pull on the ulna as the elbow extends.

The medial epicondyle is the origin for many flexor forearm muscles, not for the anconeus. The olecranon is primarily associated with the insertion of the triceps, not the origin of the anconeus. The coronoid process is a bony projection on the ulna involved with attachments of other structures, not the origin site for this muscle.
